About Merlyn Driver:
Hailing from the Orkney Islands, Merlyn Driver weaves folk, global, and contemporary influences into music deeply rooted in nature. Raised on a remote smallholding without electricity, his work reflects the rhythms and textures of the natural world. His critically acclaimed 2022 project, Simmerdim: Curlew Sounds, created with the RSPB, earned praise from BBC Radio, MOJO, Songlines Magazine (5 stars), and The Guardian.
Merlyn’s debut album, It Was Also Sometimes Daylight (released October 2025), is an intimate exploration of life, memory, childhood, and nature, featuring guest artists like Owen Spafford (fiddle), Nathan Riki Thomson (double bass), Francesca Ter-Berg (cello), and the sounds of curlews, blackbirds, frogs, and more.
